Magazine – Lifestyle Farmer

We love the NZ Lifestyle Farmer Magazine – so much so we have a years subscription to it as one of our prizes in our yearly new owner feedback survey! It has been published by NZ Rural press for over ten years and features articles by journalists who are or have been farmers and growers and have extensive knowledge of the agricultural and horticultural sector.
I learn heaps of interesting stuff out of it – like in the recent September issue I learnt about trees to plant for better bee productivity, handling and inspecting your chooks, how to keep your orchard in top condition and how to make egg pasta at home!

Now that the chooks are laying again and we have an abundance of eggs making egg pasta is a great way to “store” eggs for when they go off the lay. If you store it well it lasts as long as store-bought pasta, and it is fun to make and delicious to eat to boot – fresh or dried!

They have other delicious recipes (including a sticky date pudding in this last issue), a helpful section called Farm Diary that lists what you should be doing on your land and with your cattle, sheep, goats, horses and chooks in September and they always have a cute animal picture on the last page for you to pull out and cover your little ones walls with.
